TUESDAY JULY 25 ^TH - PARMA

 9.30 meeting in Garibaldi Square, under the statue and starting of the walking tour which will include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Steccata Church, the Palazzo della Pilotta with the Farnese Theatre, the outside of the Opera House and the ducal garden. End of the walking tour and transfer to the University Campus by public bus.Lunch at the Campus and, in the afternoon visit to the Natural Regional Taro Park. 

WEDNESDAY JULY 26^TH – ENOGASTRONOMY AND ART GALLERY

 8.30 we leave Parma and go to a caseificio to see the making of the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, then visit to the museum of the Prosciutto di Parma in Langhirano, and to the wonderful Fondazione Magnani Rocca, a delicious art gallery where pieces by Goya, Morandi, Cezanne, Monet, De Chirico and several other worldwide famous artists are to be seenLunch at the Campus and, in the afternoon, free time for shopping or visits of personal interest. 

TUESDAY JULY 27^TH - TRENTINO

Full day excursion in Trentino 

FRIDAY JULY 28^TH – VERDI’S LAND

 At 9.00 we leave to Roncole di Busseto and stop for taking a photo in front of the house where Giuseppe Verdi was born, then the itinerary includes the Salone Barezzi, where several interesting objects and posters are to be seen, and Villa Verdi where the “maestro” and Giuseppina Strepponi spent the last 50 years of their life. Return to the Campus for lunch.

FIELD-TRIP IN THE AREA OF REGIONAL NATURAL PARK

“PANEVEGGIO-PALE DI SAN MARTINO”

The programme of the conference has scheduled on 27th of July a field-trip in the area of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park.

Departure from Parma is at 06.30 and arrival is expected of 10.30 at the Visiting Centre of Paneveggio, in Trentino.

The main theme of the Visiting Centre is the spruce fir (Picea abies) forest. Situated in the nearest is popularly known as “Violins’ forest”; the wood quality in fact was renowned since centuries for its use in the music crafts. Within the centre are displayed the most important zoological species present in the area of the Park, namely capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) and red deer (Cervus elaphus).

A 40 mins-long walk drive us to Malga Juribello, a traditional mountain farm in the awesome scenario of Dolomite.

A lunch, based on traditional alpine foods, is served there in a friendly atmosphere. The main activity of the afternoon is the visit to the naturalistic track of “Sentiero Marciò”. Deeply in the magic landscape of the Paneveggio’s forest, the track passes above the Travignolo stream on a suspended-bridge. Left the narrow canyon formed by the stream, the track ends to the faunistic area of Park where various red deer are hosted in a semi-natural context.

Wine-farm “Maso Speron d’Oro” (“At Golden spur”) is the location for the evening meal with the opportunity to learning about the wine-making process and tasting some local wines and foods.

Arrival in Parma is scheduled for 24.00

Appropriated clothing and shoes are suggested (K-way, Pile jacket, trekking shoes). In alpine mountain areas in fact during summertime changes in the weather conditions are very frequent and prompt.

Meet with guide in the mornig and walking guided tour to the historical centre of the city with visit to Farnese Theatre, the Steccata Church, the Cathedral, the Baptistery, St. John Church, Regio theater.At the end typical lunch in restaurant. Afternoon departure to Torrechiara where you'll visit the Medieval Castle ordered by pier Maria Rossi as a gift of Bianca Pellegrini. After that you will visit an ham factory with taste of the tipical Parmesan Ham.

Mornig departure for Pisa and visit of Miracle Square with his Baptistery, the Chathedral, the Cimitery and the famous Leaning Tower. After dinenr departure for Lucca where you'll see San Michele Churc and his Square, the Market Square and have a guided walk through Fillungo, the most famous street of Lucca, where you can admire many historical and artistical testifies.
